Armenian pottery is one of the renowned arts/crafts of Israel. I have always loved its vibrant colors and beautiful designs. Several years ago I found a picture of a painted tile by the artist Stefan Karkashian from the Jerusalem Pottery studio on Via Dolorosa. The painted tile has not been copied, but used as a basis for this quilt. The border is original.
With permission from the heirs of Stefan Karkashian.
This quilt has been made only by hand. It incorporates hand applique and reverse applique, embroidery, beading and quilting.
